Inspiration Thoughts

ABOUT CHICKENS AND EAGLES

January 9, 2017

I just watched this video by Prince Ea (and I think you should watch it too.) Not only does he generally inspire me personally with his inspirational spoken word films, he also puts things in another perspective and often makes me think even further than I might have already got.

Last week, I’ve written about resolutions, how we often drop them after a very short time and forget about them until the next year comes around. However, if we really wanna change something, we should change our life. As he says in the video:

Character is the ability to carry out a resolution long after the excitement oft he moment has passed.

(and if you still haven’t watched it yet, do it! yeah, I’m going to stay persistent with that)

Instead of copying what the people on the left and the right do, instead of pretending to be a chicken and cluck with them, we should listen to our inside and forget about the outside noise. It’s not bad, to do things like other people, it’s bad to do it just because you are afraid of being different, afraid of flying, afraid of being yourself. Not all of us are chickens, nor are we all eagels. Humanity is a colorful mixture of many wonderful beings, sadly pretending to be all the same.

Many of us miss the opportunity and potential they have because they let others define theire life instead of trying to follow what they feel is right and what they feel is really worth doing. You’re not worthless, if you fail in being what others expect you to be. It’s not you, who is wrong, it’s the expectation of the others.

It’s your road, and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.

This quote emphasizes many things: First of all, our life is ours, not someone else’s one. It’s our decision, what we do with it. However, it’s our responsibility as well. There’s no one who will tell us the right way to go. Yes, there are people who can help you, but in the end, you have to walk it with all the ups, but with all the downs as well, with all the adventures, but also with all the consequences. And thirdly, you have to find your own way. You can’t just follow the same road someone else went. Of course, we can take inspiration for other people’s lives, we can learn from their stories and their advise, but in the end, it’s about what we ourselves make out of all the bits and pieces. We are like artists, who don’t copy one artwork but take the best parts of all the things they see. Let’s take the empty canvas called life and fill it with our own artwork.

Start flying and get inspired!
